Does weak quasi-o-minimality behave better than weak o-minimality?

چکیده

We present a relatively simple description of binary, definable subsets models weakly quasi-o-minimal theories. In particular, we closely describe linear orders and prove weak version the monotonicity theorem. also that quasi-o-minimality theory with respect to one order implies any other such order.

Weak Admissibility, Primitivity, O-minimality, and Diophantine Approximation

We generalise M. M. Skriganov’s notion of weak admissibility for lattices to include standard lattices occurring in Diophantine approximation and algebraic number theory, and we prove estimates for the number of lattice points in sets such as aligned boxes. Our result improves on Skriganov’s celebrated counting result if the box is sufficiently distorted, the lattice is not admissible, and, e.g...

Lectures on O-minimality

1. Introduction During the academic year of 1996{97, the Fields Institute hosted a program in Algebraic Model Theory. As a part of that program, a course on topics from the subject of o-minimality was taught jointly by A. Macintyre, M. Spi-vakovsky and myself during the fall semester. The main theme of the course was the study of the expansion of the eld of real numbers by all restricted analyt...

What is o-minimality?

We define the crucial notion of o-minimality for expansions of the field of real numbers, in particularly friendly purely mathematical terms. This should help bridge the gap between investigators in o-minimality and mathematicians unfamiliar with model theory, who are concerned with non oscillatory behavior, tame topology, analyzable functions, etcetera. The main definition is that of a rich cl...

Notes on local o-minimality

We introduce and study some local versions of o-minimality, requiring that every definable set decomposes as the union of finitely many isolated points and intervals in a suitable neighborhood of every point. Motivating examples are the expansions of the order of reals by sine, cosine and other periodic functions. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 03C64

Notes on o-minimality and variations

The article surveys some topics related to o-minimality, and is based on three lectures. The emphasis is on o-minimality as an analogue of strong minimality, rather than as a setting for the model theory of expansions of the reals. Section 2 gives some basics (the Monotonicity and Cell Decomposition Theorems) together with a discussion of dimension. Section 3 concerns the Peterzil–Starchenko Tr...
